Hans Bosch is an Associate Professor at the Department of Biomedical Engineering, Thoraxcenter, Erasmus MC, Rotterdam. He specializes in 2D and 3D echocardiographic image processing/analysis and transducer development. Main research interests are optimal border detection approaches, geometrical and statistical models, and anatomical and physical knowledge representations for border detection. He has realized applications for the heart, carotid arteries, and tendons and nerves in the hand.

He obtained his MSc in Electrical Engineering at Eindhoven University of Technology in 1985, where he worked on speech analysis and synthesis. He has since then performed research in ultrasound image processing at the Erasmus University, Rotterdam, and Leiden University Medical Center, The Netherlands. Since 1995, he was Assistant Professor and head of the Echocardiography section at the Division of Image Processing (LKEB), Department of Radiology, Leiden University Medical Center. Since 2005, he is Associate Professor and staff member at the Thoraxcenter Biomedical Engineering Dept. at Erasmus MC.

He was chairman  of the SPIE Medical Imaging conference on Ultrasonic Imaging and Tomography (2011-2015) and co-organizer of the MICCAI CETUS challenge on 3D echocardiographic segmentation   (2014).
