Description:
In an era of increasing antimicrobial resistance and with few new drugs making it to the market, antibiotic use must be optimized in order to improve clinical outcomes of infections. This PhD project includes the development of population pharmacokinetic (PK) models for several beta-lactam antibiotics to investigate the exposure and variability in the population. The population PK models are used to perform Monte Carlo simulations with the objective to evaluate the probability of pharmacodynamic (PD) target attainment of several dosing regimens. The second objective of the PhD project is to compare parametric and nonparametric population PK modelling approaches.
